Beer ads

I think the beer companies are going in the right direction with their advertisements because honestly, who drinks more beer, men. Women do drink beer, but it seems like men are the ones that drink it more often. So, the beer companies would set the advertisements to the men because they are the ones that will be buying the beer and if you have the better advertisement, men are more likely to give it a try.

holocause survivors

I wish I would have been able to make it to see the holocaust survivors. It would have been very, very interesting to see their perspective on what they went through being in the camps. That is one thing that if there is ever an opportunity to see something like this, it would not be fun to miss. Anything you can hear about history they is first hand is just amazing to hear.

hip-hop videos

I think the videos have a slight influence on teens. If it has an affect on them, it would make them think they can get a woman any way they want to. And it would tell them, women should be dancing them all they time because that is all that they are good for. But truthfully, I don't think the videos have too much of an affect on them.

final project

I liked the final project because of what I picked. Who doesn't like looking at the advertisements in magazines. Lots of them are completely different so it is always great. After doing this project, I completely see a different side to all of them. You always notice the sex appeal that they show, but you never look into it. After doing this project, thats all I see in the advertisement and everything else that goes along with it.

asian stereoptypes

I think the asians do have a few stereotypes. To me, the biggest one is that they are all wealthy. That is the biggest one, the next thing you think of would be that they are fast quick people that can beat up anybody. Jet Li and Jackie Chan are a couple big names that you think of with them. Another one that I think of is that, like middle easterners, they work at gas stations. Those are the stereotypes I think are the big ones that associate with asians.

stereotype about the father figure

I find it really funny how men are portrayed as stupid and such on tv. I think men use it to their advantage because nowadays men pretty much do what the women tell them to do. Men are able to do it, they just have the women do it because they would rather watch tv or do something else other than that.

confession from the reporter

I think it was obviously very hard for the columnist to say she was wrong about what she had said before. But she let stereotypes get to her by thinking it was an ex or a friend that wanted to get rid of her. I guess when you are reporting on something, you have to do your best to leave stereotypes out of it, and just report on the facts.

news reporting on disabilites

I think i get my stereotypes from television. That is a big thing, watching tv shows or something and just shows somebody in one way because of how they are. Its the mass media that does it. I think once you have a stereotype in you head, it is very hard to get rid of it. Its just like a bad habit, you have to keep doing the opposite of what you are doing just to get rid of it, and sometimes you can't get rid of it because it is everywhere.

First Project

I found the first project we did very interesting. It was great having to look at something back in the past and see the difference between now and then. I found that although women did have some high roles, they were still considered to be in the kitchen. My favorite line from my article was when it said that whenever this lady went home, she would bake and cook on the weekends and do lots of cleaning.

Jena 6

I think the movement for the Jena 6 was a good thing. Obviously they are dealing with racism which is a huge problem that probably won't be going away anytime soon. It was fairly surprising that no riots broke out or anything of that nature. It was probably one of the best protests in American history.

News

I mostly get my news from online sites. I don't read the newspaper, and every once in a while, I do watch the news on tv. I usually look at CNN, sometimes I look at BBC, but mostly just the main ones on yahoo or something like that. On tv, it would be the local news channels if the tv is on. It is probably less than an hour a week or so that I do search for news. I don't seem to look at that news as much as I watch ESPN for the sports news. I think when it comes to race, gender, sexualities, or disabilities, there is usually a bias to each of them some way or another.
